Get a Free Edit Review of Your Manuscript

An engaging story isn’t enough to guarantee success in this tough business. Whether you plan to self-publish or seek a traditional commercial publishing contract, your manuscript needs to be free of errors before it goes to the publisher. This is all about readability. You may have a great story, but your readers won’t stay with it if they’re constantly tripping over typos, punctuation errors, and awkward prose.

I’ll review your manuscript and let you know what level of editing it needs. I’ll include lots of before-and-after examples to show you how a professional edit will improve your story’s readability and more firmly engage the reader.

Please use the form on this page to send your manuscript to me in Word, RTF, or PDF format. I’ll get the edit review back to you within a few days. No charge.

Please note: I’m a book writer and editor. I work only with novels and nonfiction books of at least 40,000 words. If you need help with a short story, magazine article, term paper, collection of poems, or PhD dissertation, I can’t help you. If you need help with a novel or nonfiction book, then I’m your guy!

If you’d like feedback on the story itself (plot, characterization, background events, etc.) and its commercial marketability, then a manuscript evaluation is in order. For more information about that, please visit the manuscript evaluation page.

    What My Clients Are Saying

Bill Greenleaf is a consummate professional at his craft. He gives new meaning to meticulous when it comes to grammatical and syntactical correctness. Better yet, Bill’s many improvements to my latest book, How Now, Norm’s Tao, were not only insightful, but were consistent with my offbeat sense of humor and irreverent literary style. If you want your book to be the very best it can be, give Bill Greenleaf a call today.

That’s a great Question! I have the answer for you! Have a look at my credentials:

First and foremost, I’m a writer. My first novel Timejumper was published by Leisure Books in 1980. The Tartarus Incident, The Pandora Stone, and Starjacked! were published by Ace/Berkley in 1983 through 1988. Clarion was published by Tor Books in 1990, and Bloodright was published in 2011. An update and reissue of The Pandora Stone was also published in 2011, and The Tartarus Incident was reissued in 2012. A Plague of Gods was published in 2016. Next in line are The Prince of Blue Peril and The Shattered Man.

I’m a freelance editor, book doctor, and ghostwriter. For more than twenty years I’ve been helping writers get their first books published. Those books have included mainstream novels, suspense thrillers, historical novels, mystery novels, science fiction, horror, chick lit, and other genres as well as autobiographies, memoirs, exposés, and other nonfiction books.

I’ve been a member of the Authors Guild, America’s oldest and most respected professional organization for writers, since 1995.
